LONDON LOCAL PRESS AWARD 2005
 The Iraqi community Association newspaper AL-Muntada has been awarded with the Mayor of London "LONDON LOCAL
PRESS AWARD 2005", at the awards ceremony where the Mayor of London Ken Livingston announced and made the award
at the City Hall on Thursday 21st July 2005.
The Items "Illegal refugees do not exist" and the photographs of ICA 50+ Club exercising, both on front page of
no.82, were entered under category 4 for Faith and Black, Asian and minority ethnic newspaper.
Guests at the Ceremony were welcomed by Lee Jasper Mayor's Policy Director for Equalities and Policing and
addressed by keynote speakers; the Mayor of London Mr Ken Livingston and Shami Chakrabarti, Director of Liberty.
Also by supporters of the award, Bemma Donkoh - UNHCR representative to the UK, Kirsten Hearn - chair of Equal
Opportunities and Diversity Board, Metropolitan Police authority and Tim Lezard - president of National Union
of Journalists NUJ
